Good god, William. What have you done?
~ Annette finding out what William has become
Don't...Don't worry about me. Take my daughter...to safety. I'm sorry, Sherry...for everything. Your life is what is important now-
~ Annette giving Sherry to Claire, also her last words in Claire's scenario

Annette Birkin is the tritagonist of the 2019 survival horror video game Resident Evil 2 based on the 1998 video game of the same name.

She was a scientist and wife of Umbrella Corporation Chief Scientist William Birkin, and the mother of his child - Sherry Birkin.

She was voiced by Karen Strassman.

Her Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Her Heinous?[]

  • Worked on making the G-Virus alongside her husband William for 7 years.
  • Experimented on Orphans from the orphanage, one experiment had a boy named oliver have his skin peeling off.
  • Bribed Corrupt Police chief Brian Irons to keep their activities secret.
  • Planned on selling G-Virus samples with William to the U.S. Government in exchange for protection.
  • Neglected and Abused her daughter Sherry.
  • After being interviewed/interrogated by Ben Bertolucci about the G-virus and the NEST Facility she leaves, and Irons ends up arresting Ben.
  • Left her husband William Birkin alive while he was mutating into a monster due to infecting himself with the G-Virus, despite knowing the risks, and it went horribly as William accidentally spread the T-virus through rats who went onto infect the water supply, and those who drank the water turned into zombies.
  • Because she left William Birkin alive and Bribed Irons into keeping their activities shut, she is partly responsible for the Raccoon City Outbreak killing 100,000 at most by turning into zombies, due to there being no protection.
  • Spent 6 days studying and investigating Williams/G's offspring known as G, instead of helping the city.
  • In Leon A's scenario she burns a zombie and shoots at Ada and ends up hitting Leon instead.
  • Set up traps for Ada while she was chasing her, with Mr. X and locking her in a furnace with the attempt to burn her, then knocks Ada into a garbage chute with a crane.
  • Shoots Ada in the shoulder.
  • In Claire B's Scenario she locks her own daughter Sherry in the garbage chute, knowing she is infected with the G-Virus and can possibly be killed, which is pretty cold for a mother.
  • Despite the high heinous standards of Resident Evil, Annette stands out for experimenting on Orphans and being partially responsible for the Raccoon CIty Outbreak.

What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]

  • After seeing what the G-Virus did to William and the T-Virus did to the entire city, she redeems herself to stop the Virus from reaching outside the city.
  • She cares for her husband William, as when the G-virus started mutating him, her love for him refrained Annette from shooting him, and deep down despite neglecting her daughter Sherry she does care for her, as in Claire's scenario she manages to cure her from the G-Virus and has her dying moments she is regretful of how she treating Sherry and says she loves her.
