It talks?
~ The Animator after seeing the Second Coming speak.

Alan Becker, also known as the Animator, is the titular overarching protagonist of the Animator vs. Animation franchise.

He is a computer animator and the owner of ALANSPC, the main location of the series, who first drew stick figures to amuse himself by torturing them. However, he would later have a change of heart upon seeing proof of their sapience. He is the former arch-nemesis of the Chosen One, and his creations can be easily identified by their hollow heads.

He is portrayed by the real-life person of the same name.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • It's shown numerous times that he showed zero concern for the lives of anything that lived on his computer, and in fact even created stick figures just to amuse himself by killing them in a fight. It's also implied he disliked them to some degree, as shown when he briefly hesitated when Clippy asked him if he needed help.
  • For roughly nine months, he repeatedly created Victim, tortured and killed him, and then revived him to kill him again for his own amusement. Many of the murder methods were brutal, such as drowning him; skewering him with a giant shouriken; exploding him with fireworks; or slowly erasing his whole body with the eraser tool while Victim desperately tried to escape.
  • He killed Victim and his clones through closing the animation program without saving. Before that, he tried to kill victim through more violent ways such as dropping a block on him or trying to shoot him with a laser gun.
    • During this, he also killed four of his clones, and it's not out of the question many other clones were killed during Victim's other escape attempts.
    • Overall, he is singlehandedly responsible for Victim's fall to villainy by traumatizing him then creating the Chosen One and the Dark Lord, who would kill his wife Mitsi. That said, Alan is not aware of the full consequences of this, so it's rather minor.
  • After Victim escaped and Alan got too bored of him to make a new one, he created the Chosen One with intentions of killing him through means like a rocket launcher.
  • He showed zero concern for the deaths of Mozilla Firefox, and his care for AIM was only pragmatic because if he died, the Animator would've lost contact with his friend. When AIM was finally killed off by the Chosen One, it's shown he had the choice to send him either to Heaven or the graveyard but did neither in favor of dealing with the Chosen One.
  • He enslaved the Chosen One for four years as a pop-up blocker, and it's shown he treated him poorly by throwing him around and letting a chain ball crush his head.
  • When the Chosen One broke free, it's made clear the Animator wanted him gone to the point of creating the Dark Lord to kill his previous creation.
  • He showed an immense lack of empathy when several of his desktop icons were killed and when the Dark Lord was cornered by the Chosen One and begging for mercy, simply playing Solitaire when that happened. This made him indirectly responsible for the Dark Lord's fall to villainy and the countless deaths he caused, as his lack of care towards his fate convinced him to join the Chosen One.
  • He killed all four of the Fighting Stick Figures and the eight Facebook emojis for coming to life and almost killed the Second Coming while he was mourning their deaths.
  • He killed all of the Second Coming's drawings, although to be fair this was in self-defence as one of the drawings was attacking him, not to mention he tried to let them live.
  • He trapped and almost killed the Second Coming, only stopping once the stick proved he can talk.
  • When Victim went to confront Alan, Alan seemingly started the fight first by clicking on him which triggered Victim's PTSD.
  • While he has several redeeming qualities such as being protective or honorable, those only appeared after his redemption.
  • While not as heinous as the Dark Lord or King Orange, the Animator stands out due to lower resources as well as his personal villainy towards the Chosen One, having him enslaved for four years as a pop-up blocker, and towards Victim by torturing him for 9 months

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • While Alan is unambiguously evil in his treatment of Victim, his actions following Victim's escape land him more in the Grey Zone, as it's questionable just how much of his behavior was outright evil and how much of it was some form of self-defense, as the Chosen One was hostile before Alan even did anything wrong and he had every reason to distrust the Second Coming and his friends given what happened the last time he interacted with stick figures. This was best seen in Animator vs. Animation III, where it could be seen as both of him not wanting to accept consequences for his enslavement of the Chosen One, or as self-defense to stop his computer from destruction.
  • In the few scenes where we see him speak, he's shown as very affable and polite.
  • He cares for his friends on Facebook, as he panicked when the Second Coming impersonated him and started leaving hostile messages, trying to make it clear he's being impersonated as to not lose his friendships.
  • In regards to his real-life family, he does genuinely love them, as he was angry when Red and Green accidently destroyed his family photos, distraught when victim did the same to all of his files, and is shown to be an attentive father to his daughter in the "New Wallpaper" short.
  • After he saw that the Second Coming is a beautiful artist, he genuinely redeemed himself as he originally wanted to let his creations live, killed them only in self-defense, and then cemented his redemption by reviving the Fighting Stick Figures in exchange for the Second Coming teaching him how to draw. After this, he grew to care for the Stick Gang and occasionally helped them in their adventures.

Trivia[]

  • He created the Chosen One, the Dark Lord and the Second Coming; the Dark Lord is Pure Evil, the Second Coming is Near Pure Good, while the Chosen One is Inconsistently Admirable and a Villainous Benchmark.
  • He's one of the two canon villains from Animator vs. Animation alongside Greenzilla to be Inconsistently Heinous that didn't appear in Animation vs. Minecraft.
