Shh... it's useless to speak. I have killed hunters in the past, but never a human one. Such curious game. I will not give the sweet release of death. Not yet. I will relish this hunt. Relax, your friends won't help you now.
~ Angor Rot meeting Jim for the first time face-to-face.
Angor: WITCH, I AM NO ONE'S PAWN!!
Morgana: (to Jim) You! What did you tell him?
Angor: The boy reminded me who I fight for!
Morgana: You fight for ME!
~ Angor Rot turning against Morgana and redeeming himself after remembering the hero he once was.

Angor Rot is a major antagonist in the Tales of Arcadia, serving as the secondary antagonist of the first installment, Trollhunters, and a minor character in the third installment, Wizards. He is one of the many victims of Gunmar's War for the Surface Lands against the humans, forcing him to sell out his own soul to Morgana to save his village and tragically, became her slave.

He was voiced by Ike Amadi.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • He killed many of Merlin's Trollhunters under Morgana's orders, but the worst part is that before he kills them, he has them marked so he can go on and harvest their souls upon killing them, which Blinky outright states, is a fate worse than death, as they are all barred from entering the void.
    • He traps them in his web, leaving them frozen and yet completely aware of their surroundings, trying to scream for help, while telling he won't give the sweet relish of death and will only do so after enjoying the hunt, before watching their suffering and then mark and upon now gaining the ability to Wield the Sword of Daylight and take it from them, leave them be. Jim was freed mostly due to his friends being able to find him, while the others probably weren't as lucky.
  • Upon being freed, he attempts to kill Strickler and Otto Scaarbach until he saw the Inferna Copula in Strickler's hand and was forced into submission.
  • Kills Fragwa by squeezing him until he straight up explodes with his blood splattering all over.
  • Kills Blungo the Pretend King by using his Creeper Sun Poisoned blade to slash him.
  • Overall, he is responsible for giving AAARRRGGHH!!! a slow and painful death as he slashed and put a big blow on him using his Creeper Sun Poisoned blade, slowly turning him into stone in which the process was dreadfully long, taking several days, or weeks, or even a few months and it has no cure too, it could only be just slowed even more down, and then Angor ultimately kills him during his attack on Trollmarket, taunting Jim about it.
  • Gives Strickler the totem to bind his and Barbara's fates together. Any injury he faces, she will get it, and if he gets killed, so will she, for Strickler to force Jim to not harm him.
  • Ultimately, uses pixies to go on and trap the students in the school in their worst fears, upon having some fun tormenting Strickler using it to have him give up the ring. Most have been fairly generic, however, what Strickler, Claire, and Jim got thanks to the pixies were genuinely horrific and messed up.
    • Strickler was forced to deal with an apparently still alive Bular who has come to go on and kill him for abandoning loyalty for Gunmar and try taking over the world on his own and was left a cowering mess begging for help on the belief he is going to die.
      • Claire was forced to deal with nightmares upon seeing her lost baby brother and eventually starts breaking down and starts blaming herself for why he is kidnapped and trapped in the Darklands. Jim has received the outright worst as he was forced to see a future where he failed to save the world, failed to stop Gunmar, and now witnesses the stone corpses of all his loved ones right in front of him.
  • Upon accidentally destroying his soul, Angor straight-up attempts to kill Stricklander due to being free and out of revenge.
  • In his crusade to kill Strickler, he stabs him with his blade and causes him and Barbara to slowly die.
  • Upon stealing Claire's horngazel, he launches an attack on Trollmarket to slaughter the populace to harvest Jim's soul, in which by the end of the battle, we can see the corpses of about dozens of trolls, which AAARRRGGHH!!! is a part of who Angor personally slays in an attempt to kill Toby.
  • Upon his resurrection, he helps Gunmar and Morgana create the Eternal Night so they can slaughter all of humanity.
  • Traps AAARRRGGHH!!! in the same webbing he used to trap and mark Trollhunters to lure the team to a trap where they would be blow up by multiple Dwärkstones.
  • He and Gunmar collectively murder Draal, having stabbed him with his Creeper Sun poison that leads to Draal's death.
  • While Angor Rot has been brainwashed into villainy thanks to Morgana using the Inferna Copula carved from his own living stone, the majority of his heinous actions weren't done due to him being controlled and forced to do so by Morgana and Strickler, and most were his own input without anyone else controlling him to do so, in which at the end of Season 1, ends up being free from Strickler's control and by his resurrection, his regained his soul.
    • The only thing he was actually controlled to do was just simply to kill the Trollhunters, and even then, Angor Rot relishes in harvesting their souls even when he was freed from anyone's control.
  • While Tales of Arcadia has a high heinous standard, Angor easily stands out due to having fewer resources and being basically just a mook.

What Makes him Inconsistent?[]

  • Ultimately, he has moral agency issues as he was brainwashed to villainy against his will upon being freed by Morgana, and didn't become evil out of his own accord. Even upon getting his soul back, Angor, while no longer in control by anyone, still has moral agency issues due to this as he even doesn't know who he once was until the finale when he was reminded of Jim and thus turns against Morgana as a result.
  • Is very tragic, since he was once a hero to trollkind when Gunmar's War for the Surface Lands against King Arthur eventually ravaged his village and was forced to sell out his soul to Morgana to have the power to protect his village. Because of this, he was ultimately forced and brainwashed into becoming Morgana and Strickler's slave who use the Inferna Copula made of his own living stone to control him to do actions against his will and corrupt him.
  • Legitimately empathized with Draal and has a genuinely kind moment when he begs Gunmar to set him free upon seeing how reminiscent it is to how he suffered against Strickler.
  • It is pretty clear Angor mellowed out more so than ever upon getting his soul back and being less crueler, having been shocked by Morgana's cold-bloodedness in massacring the Gumm-Gumms and protesting against it.
  • Ultimately, upon being reminded by Jim of the hero he once was before Morgana brainwashed him, Angor Rot turns against Morgana and helps the heroes fight and defeat her and thwart her plan to end all of humanity and sacrifices his life to make sure Morgana is trapped in the Shadow Realm.
