The barbarians lived in Nordmar. And Rhobar was one of them. He wandered through the ice without fire or weapons. And the Beast was hunting him. Rhobar híd in a cave, but the Beast tracked him down. And Rhobar felt behind him, and there he found a sword. He took it and killed the beast with ONE stroke.
~ Rhobar I and the Ancient Beast before they fought.

The Ancient Beast is the main antagonist of Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods. This creature is a serious enemy of the nameless hero and later Rhobar III. The Ancient Beast is also one of Beliar's most powerful demons.

Its Evil Ranking[]

What Makes It Heinous?[]

  • It was created by Beliar to kill Innos' servants on the earth.
  • It attempted to kill Rhobar I when Rhobar was a barbarian.
  • It planned to kill the nameless hero in order to succeed in its plans.
  • It attempted to destroy Myrtana, which could have caused countless deaths.
  • With just one touch, the Ancient Beast was able to poison its opponent with the intention of hurting them badly.
  • It is able to use the wrath of Beliar, which is a devastating lightning spell that seriously harms innocent people.
  • It is taken completely seriously and lacks any redeeming qualities. Also, the Ancient Beast is never once played for sympathy; instead, it is played for pure horror and dead seriousness.

What Makes It Inconsistent?[]

  • It does not have enough characterisation to be PE or NPE, as too little is known about it.
  • It has severe moral agency issues, as it is only capable of killing people and being sadistic without actually being aware of the difference between right and wrong. This prevention is not minor, because the Ancient Beast has no genuine personality.

Trivia[]

  • The Ancient Beast is currently the only Gothic villain to be Inconsistently Heinous. However, if the Ancient Beast had enough characterisation, it would have been either Pure Evil or Near Pure Evil instead.
