Because...I love him. I love him.
~ Alice to Alfred in the imaginary door.
You're right! Im nothing but a cold blooded killer! I wouldn't mind killing you too! Pest like you shouldn't be alive! All you ever do is ruin everything!
~ Alice to Luigi, before their confrontation in Mario's landscape.

Alice Aduraice, better known as just Alice is the main antagonist of (Mario) The Music Box and it's ARC game.

She was the one who conspired with Riba in order to overthrow Marchionne in the past, She's the one who possesses Mario at the beginning of the game, thus kickstarting many of the events of said game.

Her Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Her Heinous?[]

  • When she met Riba as a child, she agreed to help him to dispose of Marchionne in order to bring wealth to her family.
  • She consistently antagonized Marchionne and Luciano under Riba’s orders.
  • When she found out that Marchionne and Luciano are twin brothers (which was considered a bad omen in the town) she revealed the secret to Riba, and thus, the secret was exposed to the whole town, which led to the execution of both brothers.
  • In an unknown period of time, she captured and mutilated her mother for her abuse (although she ultimately deserved it).
  • When a now grown-up Alice visited Riba and found out he had a child with a woman named Elizabeth, she murdered Elizabeth and set his house on fire, while planning to leave his child, Anna, to die in the fire, only rescuing her in order to avoid suspicion.
  • She was a bad mother towards Anna, due to her being Elizabeth’s child and not hers, often preferring her child, Serina in favor of her.
  • When she came down with a terminally ill disease, which couldn’t be cured, she began working with Riba in order to do a ritual which would make them both immortal.
  • She planned to use Serina, her own daughter, as a sacrifice for the ritual. While it was Riba who coerced her into doing this, she still agreed nonetheless.
  • When she found out Anna had murdered Serina, she became enraged and murdered her, and soon tried to hide any evidence of her crime.
  • When Riba told her the new requirements for the ritual would need to be the rest of her family and her servants, she began a killing spree, murdering everyone she could find (She’d later feel regret about this, however).
  • When Riba revealed his true colors to her, she cursed him so that he’d never be able to leave the mansion lest she be resurrected, leaving him trapped for years, possibly centuries. While he deserved this fate for all the cruel acts he committed for the sake of greed and amusement, Alice also cursed the entire world, vowing to bring nothing but destruction for whoever gets in her way.
  • When Mario enters the now abandoned mansion and touches the music box she was trapped in, she quickly enters his body in the hopes of escaping the mansion.
  • Throughout the game, she would attempt to break Mario’s mind in order to possess him and escape the mansion in order to spread her curse.
  • It’s because of her that various spirits such as Anna are hostile towards Mario, due to them not wanting Alice to escape with his body, putting his life at more risk than it already is.
  • She convinces Riba to use Mario to finish the ritual in order to have a body once more while promising him to let him leave the mansion.
  • When Mario finds Alice’s corpse, she attempts to kill him.
  • While she offers Luigi to join her after the ritual’s almost complete, she shows no hesitation in trying to kill him once he refuses.
  • In the Omitted memory ending, she knocks Luigi unconscious before attempting to kill Mario in order to try to take his body for herself, This would end up with the curse taking over Mario, who sacrifices himself as a host for the curse to stop it from spreading, and thus, ends up being forgotten by the world.
  • In the Sealed ending, where Luigi interrupts the ritual and beats Alice in Mario’s landscape, she spitefully brings Mario down with her in order to deny Luigi his victory, leaving Mario’s soul trapped in the music box alongside hers.
  • In the Puppet ending, she manages to take control of Mario, and kills Luigi before moving on to enact her revenge on the rest of the world.
  • In the Tragedy ending, she succeeds in possessing Mario and brings forth her curse upon the world, setting everything ablaze, with Layla saying herself she had caused the end of the world.
  • In the Missing Ending, she, possessing Mario, stabs Luigi as the two brothers were just escaping the mansion, sadistically mocking him and forcing Mario to return to the mansion. She also ensured it would be slow and painful as she told Mario that she didn’t fatally stab Luigi, and that she assumed he would bleed out over time.
  • If the player chooses the Insane Route in (Mario) The Music Box ARC, Alice, while possessing Mario, will kill Princess Peach, who was at the mansion looking for Mario. While it is debatable on whether it was the real Peach or not, it still shows that Alice, at times, is willing to kill anyone just for fun.
  • Her actions cause Mario to become insane himself, as he begins questioning whether everything he sees is real or not, gaining trust issues and losing his loved ones.
  • She represents Wrath in the seven deadly sins, showing how much she’s let herself go in her quest for vengeance.
  • While she does save Mario on occasions such as in an instance where she saves him from Rosa’s malevolent spirit, it’s out of pragmatism only, as she needs him in order to escape the mansion.
  • While it could be assumed her curse is what’s causing her malice, it’s not as in the Omitted Memory route, Mario gets the curse himself, yet acts rational and protective, showing she’s being driven by her anger, rather than any outside force.
  • She easily passes the heinous standard with her high kill count and especially her curse, which, as shown in the tragedy ending, would have devastating consequences if unleashed, which puts her as a world-wide threat.

What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]

  • She’s far too tragic for NPE or even PE. She was born in poverty, raised by an abusive mother, and worked hard every day just to bring food to the table. Then, she would end up evicted of her own house due to Marchionne’s orders, her mother Evie would soon drain the family’s money and abandon her and her father, after Marchionne’s execution and Riba’s rise to power, she would come down with a disease that couldn’t be cured, now desperate to live, she would work with Riba, who, unbeknownst to her, knew what she had done to him, and was out for revenge, then, after all the sacrifice she made in order to try to get the ritual ready, Riba would flat out call her out on she truly failed at everything in life before killing her. While it ultimately doesn’t justify her anger on those who had nothing to do with her tragedy, it’s still played for sympathy, meaning it still holds up.
  • She genuinely loved her father, and once she became remorseful in her infamous killing spree, she pondered how much her father must be disappointed in her.
  • She shows genuine remorse for her actions in various routes in both games, such as in the Missing End A from the ARC game, where she expresses remorse over all her actions and apologizes to Luigi over getting Mario involved in the whole mess.
  • In the Better Off Lost Ending from the remaster, she redeems herself when Mario frees her, thanking him for his kindness and promising to apologize to everyone she hurt, promising to be a better person in her next life.
