I will never surrender. Never. I forbid you and the other commanders here to surrender.
~ Adolf Hitler forbidding surrender.
What I should've done is liquidate all the high-ranking officers, as Stallin did. I never attended an academy, and yet I conquered Europe all by myself! Traitors...I've been betrayed and deceived from the very beginning. What a monstrous betrayal to the German people! But...all those traitors will pay! They will pay with their own blood! They shall drown...in their own blood!
~ Hitler ranting about losing the World War II and declaring that anyone who betrays him shall die.
Tomorrow, millions of people will curse me, but fate...has taken its course.
~ Adolf Hitler's last words.
The Generals are the SCUM of the German people! HAVE THEY NO HONOR!?
~ Adolf Hitler's often parodied quote.

Adolf Hitler is the main protagonist of the 2004 German film Downfall. He is a fictionalized version of the real life Adolf Hitler.

He was portrayed by the late Bruno Ganz, who also provided the voice of his version from Crack-Life.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • He started the Second World War and the Holocaust, leading to tens of millions of deaths.
  • He has a massive ego, believing he conquered Europe entirely on his own, completely disregarding the efforts of his generals. When one of his men warns him that continuing the war will lead to more innocent German casualties, he coldly replies that they deserve it for failing to protect him. This shows how little he cared for the German people overall.
  • He commanded his generals to launch suicidal attacks and screamed at them when they refused to do so.
  • Even after knowing the war was all but lost, he still ordered suicidal attacks and even child soldiers.
  • When one of his men reports to him that thousands of his child soldiers have died, he callously replies that “That’s what young soldiers are for.”
  • He was infuriated by Himmler's attempts to make peace with the Allies.
  • He was willing to kill a general who disobeyed him out of spite.
  • Overall, Hitler was willing to send innocent men and children to their death for a cause he knew was hopeless.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He is treated too sympathetically to be NPE as his misfortune is played for constant sympathy despite his crimes.
  • There are several people he cares for.
    • He genuinely loves his wife Eva and was moved when she said she’d stay with him.
    • He has a good relationship with his secretary, Traudl Junge, and treated her well during her time working in his bunker.
    • He cares about Joseph Goebbels as he ordered him to leave Berlin for his safety. He seems to similar care for Goebbels’s family as he sang with his children in his final moments and granted his wife with a high honour
  • He is affable to his staff and some young soldiers he meets with.
  • He genuinely cared for animals, including his pet dog Blondie.
