8-Ball is a recurring character in the 3D Universe of Grand Theft Auto series, serving as a supporting character in III and Liberty City Stories, and the tritagonist of Advance.
He was played by late rapper Guru.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
In General[]
- He is an explosives expert known for creating and distributing explosives around Liberty City. It is also implied that he has business in Vice City and around San Andreas, presumably making him responsible for multiple deaths in the cities.
- As confirmed in GTA Advance, he is also a pimp. However, considering the fact that he only used his prostitutes to get information about Vinnie's "death" and was not abusive towards them, it is arguable whether this makes him more heinous.
- While he is last seen jumping into the harbor after blowing up a freighter and hasn't made any further appearances in the game, it is implied that he survived the explosion, making him a Karma Houdini.
- Although the 3D Universe of Grand Theft Auto has astoundingly high heinous standards, he has extremely limited resources, being simply an explosives expert with only few garages where he holds most of his equipment. Even his association with the Leone Family doesn't give him more than their protection.
GTA: Liberty City Stories[]
- Prepared a car bomb for Toni to blow up The Doll's House casino and bordello, killing multiple Sindacco mobsters, casino workers, prostitutes, and presumably several customers.
- Conspired with Donald Love and Toni Cipriani to blow up Fort Staunton, with 8-Ball being the one who prepared the explosives for the action. This makes him responsible for at least thousands of deaths caused by this plan.
GTA Advance[]
- Created fake IDs for Vinnie and Mike.
- Helped Mike dispose of "Vinnie's body" by sending him to Harwood Autocrusher and Junkyard.
- Had Mike deliver a package (which is heavily implied to be a bomb for assassination) to an angry customer.
- As a way to anger his rival, he sent Mike to steal his car, which resulted in several of his thugs being killed by Mike.
- Killed several Colombian cartel thugs; however, to be fair, it was in self-defense.
GTA 3[]
- After being arrested, he was charged with eighty-five counts of owning a firearm without a license, which strongly implies that he might also be a weapons dealer.
- Knocked out a police officer during a Colombian Cartel ambush and escaped with Claude from the prison transport.
- Brought Claude to Luigi and helped him become an associate of the Leone Family.
- Planted a bomb in a car that belonged to Mike Forelli to assist Claude in his assassination.
- Alongside Claude, he blew up a Colombian Cartel freighter, killing dozens of its crew members.
- It is implied that he was the one who put explosives in the car that was supposed to kill Claude.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is genuinely affable, as he is always polite and friendly to his friends and customers. The only moment when he drops this demeanor is when Toni doesn't have enough money in the mission "No Money, Mo's Problems". However, in this case, it is relatively understandable considering the fact that he was creating bombs that were supposed to destroy an entire neighborhood.
- He is On & Off as he had several heroic roles during the series:
- Helping Mike find Vinnie's killer without anything to gain from it; in this game, he might even be considered a grey-zoned anti-villain.
- Helping Claude escape from a prison convoy, giving him a safehouse, helping him start his association with the Leone Family, and assisting him in blowing up the Colombian Cartel freighter.
- He cares for multiple people:
- He was a friend of Vinnie (even if it was not mutual from Vinnie's side) and was saddened by his "death," and he wanted to do anything he could to help Mike find his killer.
- He had a strong friendship with Mike and even told him to abandon him to save himself in his final mission in GTA Advance. He is also one of the few characters who never mistreated or betrayed Mike.
- He had a short but genuine friendship with Claude and was one of the very few characters who never backstabbed him. Even if he is implied to be the one who made the car bomb that was supposed to kill him, it is unknown whether he knew that Claude was the one who was supposed to be killed. Considering the fact that GTA Advance strongly implies that the Leone Family would kill him if he failed any job for them, it is possible that he had no other choice.
- Additionally it is possible that he was not told by Leone for what are purposes he should made to them a bomb. Not to mention that Claude still will be capable of visiting his service furthermore either way.
- He is a close friend of Luigi Goterelli.
- His fate of having his arms and legs burned and telling Mike to leave him behind in GTA Advance is played for sympathy, with Mike mourning his friend's sacrifice and the fact that he is either dead or arrested. However, this is rather minor as 8-Ball manages to survive and escape the prison convoy.
- He is loyal to the Leone Family and is willing to do even the most dangerous jobs for them, like blowing up the Colombian Cartel's freighter.
